Talaga East was once a part of the large barrio of Talaga, which at present is divided into five barrios. It was named so far it was situated in the eastern part of Talaga.

When Mr. Ceferino Maramot was defeated by Mr. Antonio Balita in the 1964 election of the barrio officials in Talaga, Mr. Felipe Balita persuaded his colleagues to create a new barrio. The elders Mr. Evaristo Castillo, Mr. Briccio Axalan, Mr. Ponciano Alejandre, Mr. Pedro Castillo, Mr. Gil Abarintos, Mr. Vicente Tatlonghari and Mr. Alberto Palhin. Convinced the people to sign the petition for creating the new barrio. Many opposed the ideas, for the reason that separation from Talaga at that time was untimely. "We should have done it before the election or we should have not participated in the election." This was the reply of the oppositioner.

At first the Municipal Council of Mabini headed by Domingo Castillo didn't approve the petition fro the creation of the barrio of Talaga East for the signature of the prominent men of Talaga East like Atty. Simeon Calangi, Ex-Fiscal Gameniano Beloso, Ex- Chief of Police Lino Garcia, Engr. Leon Castillo and Mr. Adriano Garcia did not appear in the petition. However, Mr. Jacinto de los Reyes included some more eptitioners and forwarded the petition directly to the Provincial Board. In March, 1964, these political ambitions won received the approval. In eraly April, on elction was held electing Mr. Felipe Balita as barrio captain, Mr. Evaristo Castillo, Mr. Panciano Alejandre, Mr. Gil Abarintos, Mr. Vicente Tatlonghari, Mr. Pedro Castillo and Mr. Alipio Castillo as councilmen. Mr. felipe Sawali as secretary and Mr. Ceferino Maramot as treasurer.

The next officials in 1968 to 1972 were barrio captain, Mr. Ceferino Maramot councilmen, Mr. Pedro Beloso, Mr. Evaristo Castillo, Mr. Bruno Acasia, Mr. Juan Pulhin, Mr. David Matulin and Mr. Eusebio Maņibo-barrio secretary, Mr. Alberto Garcia and barrio treasurer, Mr. Bonifacio Garcia.

The succeding barrio officials were Mr. Felipe Sawali, barrio capatin, Mr. Pedro Beloso, Mr. Alberto Garcia, Mr. Pedro Cuasay, Mr. Victor Alejandre, Mr. Simeon Alejandre and Mr. Fortunato Maramot, councilmen, barrio secretary, Mr. Antonio Atienza and barrio treaurer Mr. Antonio Mutiangpili.

Unfortunately, the succeeding barrio captain, Mr. Felipe Sawali, died. To the people of the barriio, his death was a great loss. Hence, the first barrio councilman Mr. Pedro B eloso, took over as barrio captain.

Presently, Barangay Talaga East is being headed by Punong Barangay Rodel Aspi and his councilmen.

Talaga East is the biggest barrio of Mabini in terms of population it is composed of five sitios namely: Bucana, Kabulusan, Payapa, Pungo West & Pungo East. Pook Bucana is one of the commercial centers of the town of Mabini.

Fishing is the most important industry of the people. Livestock raising, driving & carpentry works are their secondary occupation. Some women are engaged in sewing baby dresses.

The agricultural land of the barrio is very narrow. Only about 5 hectares are suitable for planting rice & other crops. The backyard are planted with coconut, bananas and the like.

Talaga East is now one of the most prosperous barrios not only in the town of Mabini but also in the Province of Batangas.
