Bagalangit was once under the jurisdiction of Bauan and San Luis. The coastal and
lowland parts were under San Luis and the upland was under Bauan. That was during the
Spanish Era up to the American Regime. But in 1918 when the town of Mabini was created
through the leadership of Captain Francisco Castillo, Bagalangit became one of the
twelve original barrios.
Based from research made by the writer the word Bagalangit originated from the two
words "Baga" and "Langit", meaning embers and heaven rspectively. Thus based from the
story coming from thr first settlers of the place, which was handed down from
generation to generation, the legend goes this way.
Once there was a stranger who happened to take a walk from the seashore going up to the
mountain, he felt warm as if there were hot smokers in his body, and he muttered "Baga".
Although he felt awrm he walk as far as the top of the mountain peak. Upon reaching the
top, he felt the fresh air and he was relaxed and said, "I am no longer tired, this is Langit".
So from that time, the place was called Bagalangit.
During the early days the barrio head was called "Teniente". The first Teniente del Barrio
were Tenienting Godyo, Tenienting Isko and Tenienteng Mariano. They were the first settlers
in the barrio. Then followed by Tenientine Andres Abrigonda and Tenienting Jacinto Matibag
who where not native of the place. The inhabitants who first settled the place came from
Bauan and Taal. They became the landowners but they not stay in the barrio. They considered
themselves as hacienderos, who from time to time visited their landholdings and animals.
They entrusted their properties to their "Katiwalas". Due to the industriousness of the
Abrigonda's and Matibag's and other hardworking families, they were able to purchase the
parcel of land from the original landowners. The next abrrio head were Epifanio Abrigonda,
known as Kabisang Panio, Nicanor Casapao, julio Abante, Benigno Matibag, Serafin Medina Sr.
and Crispin Mendoza. Later on Alberto Canson and Juan Ilagan followed. The last barrio heads
before the creation of the first barangay ouncil were Jose Maņibo, Benedicto Villanueva,
Florentino Ilagan, Timoteo Dalawampu and Cirilo de Villa.
The first barangay council was composed of Amador de Villa as Barangay Captain and six
councilmen. The second barangay council during Martial Law was composed of Barangay
Captain Juan Medina, with Benjamin Dalawampu of sitio Parang, Jorge Albuera of sitio
Balagbag, Bernardo Ilagan of sitio Gulod, jose Mendoza of sitio Punta, Arsenio Apostol
of sitio Balitian and Eusebio Mendoza of sitio Looc.
After so many years of martial law until it was lifted, a barangay eection was held.

of sitio Balagbag, Elpidio Amboy of sitio Balitian, Reynaldo Bonado of sitio Gulod, Jaime
Napeņas of sitio Looc, Victor Mendoza of sitio parang and Feliciano Mendoza of sitio Punta.
After several years barangay captain resign, and then Reynaldo Bonado as first barangay
kagawad beacme barangay capatin. Then another barangay election came and Marcelo Mendoza
won the election as baranagy captain, Jaime Napeņas, Elpidio Amboy, Victor Mendoza, Damian
