Before the creation of "Barangay Anilao East", this barangay was then a sitio of Anilao
Proper called Pook Taal-Taalan to the north and Pook Gulod to the south. Pook Gulod to
the south. Pook Taal-Taalan was called as such because this parcel of land was owned by
a well-to-do family from Taal. Pook Gulod which is the other sitio of the newly created
barangay was called by such name because it is located on a hilly place over looking the
beautiful sunset in Anilao Bay.
The fast increasing number of its inhabitants made the people of this region decide for
themselves to separate from its mother barrio of Anilao and create a new barangay under
Republic Act 3590 otherwise known as the Revised Barrio Charter.
Throught the untiring and unselfish efforts and leadership of some prominent men & women
of those two sitios witheparticular reference to Mr. Melecio Panganiban, Atty. Artemio
Reyes, Atty. Roberto Panganiban, Mr. David Ilagan, Mr. Jorge Magmanlac, Mr. Pedro Dolor,
Mr. Bruno Sandoval, Mr. Remegio Brucal and other citizens of these two sitios, they
prepared and submitted to proper authorities a resolution duly signed by no less
thanfive hundred (500) inhabitants of the place claiming independence to the mother
barangay.
Thus a new barangay was born with jurisdical personality of its own known and commonly
called by its registered name "Barangay Anilao East".
Barangay Anilao East is bounded on the east by Barangay Pulong Niogan, on the north by
Barangay Orense and Magalang-galang, Bauan, on the west by Barangay Anilao Proper and on
the south by Barangay Majuben and Barangay Sta. Ana.
This barangay has a land area of approximately 150 hectares or 1,500,000 square meters,
and a population of around 750 at present.
Most of the inhabitants of this barangay are farmers who own their land. The others are
engaged in other occupations such as carpentry, weaving, driving and trading. Many are
professionals who have found lucrative jobs abroad like teachers, engineers, nurses,
midwives, doctors and lawyers. Many more are employed locally especially those who have
not finished college education.
